At a Home for Seniors, our mission is to guide you and support you through the maze of Long-Term Care. It is our primary goal to set you at ease, allowing you the freedom to be your senior’s family or friend without the added pressure of blindly searching for long term care housing or in-home care giving.

Why We are Different than other Referral Companies
There comes a time when seniors or their family members question if it is safe to continue to live independently in their own home. A Home for Seniors offers unbiased senior placement expertise providing a professional assessment of you or your loved one by a Registered Nurse, as well as a licensed health care professional. We are the only referral agency in Bradenton that offers a Registered Nurse long term care assessments free of charge. Large referral companies use sales agents for placement, with little to no prior knowledge in the Health Care industry.
An accurate and correct medical assessment plays a vital role in determining where you or your loved one can move to. Many seniors in this nation are placed into a long-term care community, or sold on a package that does not meet their current or future needs and experience having to move to a higher level of care shortly after the initial move in.
This causes your monthly fees to increase exponentially or the possibility that they will need to relocate and move to a higher level of care, which is also more expensive. This assessment will ensure this does not happen, unless a new medical condition arises after or during the moving process.

At A Home for Seniors, we contact the potential facilities you choose and want to look at, and set up the appointments for you at your convenience. We also tour and visit our partnered facilities to ensure they maintain their quality of care, and that you will be placed in a safe well cared for establishment.

Bryon Schiffer
Bryon Schiffer started his Health Care profession in 2008 at Pacific Retirement
Services, located in Medford, Oregon. He immediately began the Administrator-In-Training program at the Rogue Valley Manor, also located in Medford, Oregon. The Rogue Valley Manor is managed by Pacific Retirement Services, and is a 668 acre Continuing Care Retirement Community offering Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Skilled Nursing Services with nearly 1000 residents.
From there, he accepted a position at a Pacific Retirement Services sister community called Trinity Terrace located in Fort Worth, Texas. Bryon took on the role of being the Health Services Administrator and Assistant Executive Director at the large community.
Bryon was awarded and recognized by US News and World Report Magazine in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016 for operating a CMS 5 star community at Trinity Terrace. In 2010 Trinity Terrace was featured in US News and Report magazine as being “best of best” in the nation. Trinity Terrace was ranked among the top 173 nursing homes in the nation out of 16,000. Bryon went on to run several other communities as the Executive Director, received several other National awards from CMS, Medal of Honor in 9/11/11, and finished his corporate career running a large Continuing Care Retirement Community just outside of Portland Oregon called Hillside. From there he purchased a small retirement home in Bend, OR in 2019, called Ridgewater Residential Care. He then sold Ridgewater in 2022, and moved to Florida to start A Home for Seniors.
Bryon holds licenses to run and operate CCRCs, Assisted Living, Memory Care, Skilled Nursing, and Adult Foster Care Homes.
Candice Smith
Candice Smith knew she wanted to be a nurse at an early age growing up on a large farm caring for her grandmother and great grandmother. When she obtained her nursing license she jumped right into her passion and has been a dedicated Geriatric Nurse for over 10 years.
Candice worked with Brookdale Senior Living for over 8 years working in all levels of Senior Care. Candice started as the Memory Care Director for a 50 bed Alzheimer’s Community in Kansas, and then became the Director of Nursing for a 50 bed Private Skilled Nursing Facility in Colorado before becoming the Director of Nursing for Brookdale’s largest Skilled Nursing Facility of 120 beds in Florida.
In 2018, she took on her largest leadership role as the Regional Consultant nurse for Brookdale.
Additionally, Candice assisted and was instrumental with the development and growth of the Home Health and Hospice programs within Brookdale.
In 2019, she became a Private Nurse consultant for Ridgewater Residential Care. While there, she met Bryon Schiffer, and they are now using their combined experiences to create A Home for Seniors to help patients and families navigate their individualized healthcare needs in the best way possible.
